Dir. Brian Nguyen - 2024 - 105m - Valid for Punch Cards
An ill-fortuned group of bank-robbers that immediately botch a series of bank heists and are stuck over the course of a whole day at a village credit union in the rural midwest. The film was shot entirely on locations between Iowa and Illinois, cast-and-crew'd predominantly with Iowa and Illinois talent, and made as a reaction to having grown up in the midwest with a passion for the movies. It's not quite a drama and not quite a comedy, it exists between suspense and laughter; think "Dog Day Afternoon" by way of John Landis. Some audiences have commented finding similarity between works of the Coen Brothers, Stephen Soderberg, Taylor Sheridan, Quentin Tarantino, and even Wes Anderson.
"This film kept us guessing ... really fun film that fully understands the genre and what audiences expect from it ... Very creative, haven't seen it done this way before." - Dances With Films: LA and NY
